Pelvic Floor Physio located in the heart of Kiama.
Can Women’s Health Physio help you?
Urinary Incontinence
We treat all forms of urinary incontinence, including stress incontinence (leakage during physical activity), urge incontinence (sudden urges to urinate including overactive bladder), and mixed incontinence. Pelvic floor physio is highly effective in managing these conditions.
Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP)
POP occurs when pelvic organs descend into or towards the vaginal canal, causing symptoms like heaviness, vaginal bulging, recurrent UTIs, and difficulty with bowel or bladder emptying. Women’s health physio offers exercises and strategies to manage prolapse and improve quality of life.
Sexual Dysfunction & Chronic Pelvic Pain
This includes conditions like endometriosis, vaginismus, and vulvodynia. Our treatments focus on reducing pain and restoring sexual function.
Bowel Control Issues
Difficulty controlling bowel movements or wind can result from nerve damage, sphincter issues, or bowel disorders. Women’s health physio helps retrain bowel control, improving continence and comfort.
Constipation
Targeted women’s health physio can improve bowel function and reduce discomfort during elimination.
Lower Back, Pelvic & Hip Pain
Physiotherapy provides relief through manual therapy, dry needling, and exercise therapy.
Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
Weak or overactive pelvic floor muscles can cause issues like incontinence or pelvic pain. Pelvic floor physio helps strengthen or relax these muscles, improving control and reducing discomfort.
Pregnancy Care
We provide physiotherapy throughout pregnancy, helping manage discomfort, improve mobility, and prepare the body for childbirth.
Post-Natal Care & Recovery (Including C-Section Recovery)
Post-natal physiotherapy supports new mothers in recovering from childbirth, with exercises to restore strength, particularly for the abdominal muscles and pelvic floor. C-section recovery includes scar management, healing, and rebuilding core strength.

Depending on your needs, the assessment may include an ultrasound to check pelvic floor function. No, in Australia, physiotherapists, including women’s health physios, are first-contact practitioners, so you don’t need a referral. However, if your doctor or specialist has given you one, feel free to bring it along to your appointment. It can provide helpful background information for your physiotherapist.
-
During your first consultation, your physiotherapist will take time to thoroughly discuss your medical history and symptoms. If you're coming in for pelvic floor physio, expect detailed questions about your pelvic health, pregnancy, or post-natal recovery. If an internal examination is needed, your physiotherapist will explain why and ensure you are comfortable before proceeding.
-
Please bring the following:
Any relevant medical reports or previous documentation related to your condition.
Having these on hand helps your women’s health physio get a complete picture of your health and ensures an effective treatment plan.
-
Yes, you are welcome to bring your baby to your appointment! We understand how challenging it can be to find time for yourself with a little one in tow, so we strive to accommodate your needs.
-
Our women’s health physios are trained in internal assessments and treatments, but this will only be done with your consent. During your session, your therapist will discuss if an internal assessment is recommended for your specific condition. Alternatively, we also use real-time ultrasound to assess pelvic floor function externally.
-
Yes, if you have private health insurance with extras cover that includes physiotherapy, you can claim your sessions. Be sure to check your policy for any limits or restrictions on physiotherapy services.
-
Yes, we accept Medicare referrals under a GP Management Plan or Team Care Arrangement for allied health services. If you're referred by your GP, you’ll need to pay the full fee on the day, but we can process your Medicare claim in the clinic. Note that Medicare only covers part of the fee, and there will be a gap payment. We are not a bulk-billing clinic.
